First things first! Be sure to check out My Minnetonka Story, which was featured yesterday on the Minnetonka Moccasin blog. You know I love my Minnetonka’s worn here, here, here, here, here, and here.

So it turns out having Wednesday off really threw my internal clock for a loop. Tuesday felt like friday. Thursday felt like Monday. But at least it’s actually Friday, right?

We had a really good holiday! We had grand plans to do absolutely nothing other than veg by the pool. But somehow we decided to head over to Conner Prairie, which is basically a historic interactive experience that sends you back to 1800s Indiana.

I’ve always loved history. In fact, I was an English major, but took more history classes than English. How does that even work? I kept thinking while we were at Conner Prairie that I want to live there! I love old houses and old-fashioned decor. And think how much simpler life would be without all the extra stuff of today.

After an evening swim in the pool, we were excited to discover that we could see Carmel’s fireworks from our deck. So we ended up seeing a pretty good display without leaving home!

Any big plans this weekend? TGIF!

Although it’s felt like summer since March, we officially rung in the new season just this week. For me, summer means sundresses, freckles, sun-streaked hair, iced green tea, sherbet, Red’s games, festivals, the Boone County fair, and a definite nostalgia for summer vacation!

What’s summer mean to you?

This past week was pretty uneventful, and I’m looking forward to an uneventful weekend as well. Chris is going to a bachelor party, so I’m going to have a bit of me time. Poolside reading, a DIY project, some maintenance on the blog, and sleeping in are on my to-do list.

What do you have going on this first weekend of summer?

This week crawled by very slowly for me, but TGIF, the weekend is almost here! Do you have any fun plans?

We don’t have too much going on, which I am really looking forward to! Chris and I recently moved apartments, so I have some work I need to do around our new space — unpacking, organizing, and beautifying. We still need to hang up all our artwork and photos, so I’m hoping to get things looking very homey by Monday.

Tonight, Chris’  coworker is having some people over to his house for a cookout. I’ve never met any of the people Chris works with, so I’m really looking forward to it.

Also, we’re planning on having a date night on Saturday! I’ve had a hankering for seafood lately, so Chris is taking me to Joe’s Crab Shack for a steampot. (It’s times like these I wish I was a bajillionaire and could fly my private jet out to Maine for a lobster roll.)

One other thing I want to do this weekend is get the new Pretty Little Liars book. I looked it up on my Nook, and they’re charging $9 for the ebook version — umm, what? So I’m going to go get the  hard copy from B&N and hopefully put in some major poolside chick lit reading.

Have a fabulous weekend, everyone!

Friday again! I could live with having a four-day week every week. Luckily, I have another long weekend ahead of me, but it’s going to be a busy one. We have family coming into town on Saturday and a to-do list 3 miles long.

This week left me with an apartment full of flowers, some new clothes in my closet, and my first Indians’ game under my belt.

We took so many photos last weekend that I have to share another batch! I can’t believe the wedding was already a week ago.

This week went by pretty quickly, and I’m so looking forward to a weekend with nothing to do. We’ve been going going going for a couple months now, and this is the first weekend in a long time where we can just relax! I plan on laying on the pool (It’s going to be in the high 80s here!), sleeping in, and we’re having a date night tonight. Fun stuff :) .

TGIF. Have a great weekend!

birthday peonies

I had a great birthday, and I’m hoping it set the tone for the whole year. My bestie, Karin, treated me to brunch, and I had some amazingly decadent and delicious Eggs Benedict. She also got me the sweetest gift: a bag FULL of my favorite things! After that, I did a little shopping and relaxed. When Chris got home, he arrived with peonies (my fave!) in hand. He took me out to a lovely dinner, and I had a seafood broil – yum! It was a perfect day, and I so appreciate everyone who sent me birthday wishes!

Today, I’m enjoying another day off work! I have a little housework to do, and then we’re heading out for Vanessa’s rehearsal and wedding!! I’m so looking forward to this weekend.

PS — All the Sam Edelman shoes. I won those in a blog giveaway. They just happened to arrive during this week — happy birthday to me!

I’m gearing up for a marathon of a weekend. Just thinking about it makes me feel ecstatic and exhausted all at the same time. I’m not sure it gets much more eventful than throwing a bachelorette party on Derby Day, which also happens to be Cinco de Mayo. That’s some sort of trifecta, right? The stars are totally aligning for these celebrations to land on the same day.

But this also means the pressure’s on. If I throw a flop-of-a-party, that means I not only ruined Vanessa’s bachelorette party, but I also ruined Derby Day and Cinco de Mayo. Oy!

Last night, I ran around like a crazy girl, making sure everything is packed and ready for the weekend. I packed what I’m calling my “party suitcase” — a BIG roller board full of of decorations, games, tulle, and lots of pink and gold. I’m like a traveling party rolling that bad boy around.

Are YOU celebrating Derby Day/Cinco de Mayo?

Right about now all I have to say is, “TGIF.” Things were a bit crazy this week, and I think next week will match up as far as craziness is concerned.

This weekend, I’m looking forward to seeing my family at my cousin’s wedding! (Okay, she’s actually my second cousin, but that’s a technicality.) And besides that? I’ll be working like a busy bee!

Until next time, my week in photos:

TGIF. I had a great and productive week. First of all, because I know you’re DYING to know, Christopher and I got our taxes done! After all the stressing out, they were so easy — thanks to my mother-in-law, who let us use their copy of Turbo Tax (Thanks, Michele!!).

What else? Karin and I went and saw Hunger Games on Tuesday evening.  Holy moly it was good. I’ve got the book all loaded on my Nook ready to read now!

We don’t have many plans lined up for this weekend, but that’s the way I like it. And without further ado, here’s my week in photos:
