Indianapolis Fashion BloggerIndianapolis Fashion BloggerIndianapolis Fashion BloggerIndianapolis Fashion BloggerIndianapolis Fashion BloggerHi! How was your weekend? I spent some quality time in Kentucky with my mom, dad, and grandma Friday afternoon through Saturday afternoon. We had a little gal’s shopping trip Saturday morning to the Gap Outlet. I’m sure I’ll be showing you my loot from that trip soon.

So, I have to talk about my new favorite dress, which I’m wearing in these photos! I’ve been working with OASAP for a while now, and they’ve sent me some real gems over the months, like the infamous Paris sweater, the lavender bag, and the flower top. But THIS dress takes the cake. It’s breezy and relaxed enough for summer weekends, but demure enough for work or church. Its pretty pastel colors remind me of sherbet (it’s called the “ice-cream” dress for a reason), and I LOVE the cutout on the back, which is a pretty little unexpected surprise that adds a little “sass.” Swoon! I didn’t do much accessorizing and I kept my hair simple and wavy because I think this dress can speak for itself.

Have a great Monday, everyone!

Happy, happy Friday!

I’m heading down to my mom and dad’s house in Kentucky! My grandma, who is 93 years old, is also visiting my mom, so it will be all three generations of us together for the weekend. My grandma lives hours away and hasn’t been able to make the drive down to Kentucky in years, so this is a special treat for everyone.

What do you have planned for this last weekend in spring?

Gordmans Striped Dress 2.0 + Indians Game

What I wore: Striped Dress C/O Gordmans, Handbag Heaven Bag, Timex Watch, Sunglass Warehouse Sunglasses, Sven Clogs

Happy Hump Day! It’s all downhill from here, right?

I mentioned on Monday that I got two striped dresses during my Gordmans shopping spree last weekend. This is the second one!

You might be thinking, why does she need two black and white striped dresses? Well, this dress I can wear to work, while the maxi dress is better for weekend wear. So, I really needed two, right? Right. This dress was originally $68, but at Gordmans you can get it for $29.99!

I wore this outfit Saturday for a downtown date night. Chris and I walked around Mass Ave a bit and then went to an Indianapolis Indians game. Baseball games are perfect for us because while Chris actually pays attention to the game, I thoroughly enjoy the people watching, hot dogs, and popcorn.

Ahh, what a great weekend! After lots of going out of town for this and that, Chris and I had a really nice couple days at home . We were able to catch up on some housework and find some time for a little fun!

Friday after work,  I headed out to Gordmans (last visited here). Gormans sells name-brand clothes and home items at discounted prices — kind of like if T.J.Maxx married Home Goods.

Gordmans sent me two gift cards and tasked me with going on a little shopping spree to try out their new gRewards program (Yes, please!). With the rewards program, you earn points with each purchase. Once you get 200 points, you earn $10 rewards to spend. You also get 10 percent off for your birthday! They’re quickly opening locations all over, so see if you have Gordmans in your area here.

I ended up purchasing two dresses with the gift cards, the first of which is the striped maxi above. This dress was originally $78, but I got it for $24.99 — a steal! I’ll be showing you the second dress I got later this week, and you’ll see that I went a little stripe crazy  at Gordmans….

I wore this outfit Friday night (yes, right after I bought it) for an impromptu date night. Chris got home from work really late, and neither of us felt like cooking, so we went to our town’s classiest restaurant, O’Charley’s. (You think I’m joking, but I’m not!)

We rounded out the evening by leaving our leftovers in my car overnight (classic move). So now my car will forever smell like chicken tenders and Cajun pasta.

What I wore: Vintage 70s Embroidered Dress, Sven Clogs, Bag C/O OASAP

Where I wore it: This past weekend Chris and I road tripped to Chris’ hometown to celebrate his brother’s high school graduation. It was great catching up with family and friends, and despite gloom and doom weather reports, we ended up having a gorgeous, sunny day for the party.

Our trip was too short, and we found ourselves back in Indianapolis on Sunday, when I wore this dress for a day of errands, laundry, and a trip to the park for a sunset walk.

Embroidery seems to be having a moment right now, doesn’t it? After seeing tons of breezy, embroidered dresses and tunics at my favorite stores, I made it my mission to find myself a comparable vintage piece. I may have succeeded a little too much, because I found two! I can’t wait to show you the second one, but until then, here are some embroidered beauties to tempt your wallet:

2. Zara Embroidered Dress
3. Anthropologie Kiki Embroidered Pouch
4. OASAP Embroidered Tank
5. Madewell By Zoe Embroidered Eliot Top
6. JCrew Baja Embroidered Top

I’m definitely loving the Mexican resort vibe! Are you?

Do you know what one of the worst things about social media is? Logging on and seeing photos of people lounging by the pool, going to the zoo, and doing fun stuff outside during the work week. Don’t these people have jobs? Meanwhile, I’m toiling away in the office, and wearing a sweater, because the AC is so darn cold. First World Pains, right?

Anyway, I always get super nostalgic this time of year when I remember how much fun the end of the school year was as a kid. Getting to wear shorts to school, field trips to the zoo, track and field day, mom giving me ice cream money, a couple months of sweet freedom just around the corner — man, those were the days! You don’t even realize when you’re a kid how awesome summer break is, but now I’m sure missing it!

All of this rambling leads me to this: I fully intend to make the most of every weekend this summer by spending time outside and taking on every adventure that comes my way … starting this weekend!

What are your plans for the weekend?

Sunday Best + Lately…

What I wore: Forever 21 Floral Tunic, H&M Leggings, Nine West Sandals

Where I wore it: To church on Sunday, and then to Home Depot and the grocery store.

Well, this week I’ve come down with either a nasty cold or a case of spring allergies. Either way, it’s icky, and I’m pretty sure I’m grossing out the people who sit in the cubicles adjacent to mine at work. All I’ve been wanting to do this week is sleep, sleep, sleep, and I’m hoping I make a full recovery before the upcoming Memorial Day weekend.

Besides feeling crummy, lately I’ve been…

Reading Kinfolk magazine. Chris got me a subscription to Kinfolk for my birthday. Because it comes out quarterly, I’m trying to slowly go through the spring issue so I don’t have to wait as long for the summer issue!

Listening to South of France. I used to work with the female singer in this band, and I’m loving their album, Another Boring Sunrise (find it here). Their music is in this Modcloth video!:

Watching House of Cards on Netflix. I didn’t think I’d like this show, but man is it good. Talk about a show with a cast of characters that you love to hate.

Eating Fruttare popsicles. You guys, these are so good. I got the mango flavor – YUM!

Looking forward to upcoming weekends full of family gatherings.

I’d love to hear what you’ve been reading, listening to, watching, eating, and looking forward to!

The Ohio River isn’t exactly the crystal clear water of my dreams, but there’s something about being near the water that makes me so, so  happy. Maybe that’s how we ended up buying a house on a “lake.” (I use the term lake loosely here, because it’s more of a large pond. But I do love it, pond scum and all.)

I wore this outfit during our Madison trip the other weekend for a walk down to the river to skip rocks and search for shells and “sea glass.” I scooped up quite the collection and plan to put it in a small glass dish to serve as a memory of our trip.

Isn’t this vintage dress darling? I got it from a fun Etsy shop called Tush Vintage. She has quite the collection of vintage pieces and she updates frequently! In fact, I treated myself to another one of her dresses with some of my birthday money. I can’t wait for it to arrive!

If anything, this week breezed by quickly, and I can’t believe our Madison trip was a week ago already. I’m ready for a relaxing weekend, which will include the farmer’s market this morning, a trip to the winery with Karin, tackling some house and yard work, and church on Sunday. I’m planning on planting some annuals around our mailbox, too, and brightening up our yard with some bright blooms.

What’s on your calendar this weekend?
