Happy Friday! I’m really looking forward to this weekend. Chris and I are planning on making an event of Saturday and doing something fun. We haven’t ironed out the details yet, but we’ve tossed around the idea of a day trip to somewhere nearby that we haven’t explored yet. We’ve been stressed out lately about house stuff — navigating the buying process and also not wanting to spend money on anything fun or frivolous — which we all need sometimes, right? So, a house-stress-free weekend is just what the doctor ordered.
I do have house news, while we’re on the subject. We made a successful offer on a gorgeous, old farmhouse with enough acreage for horses. We were ecstatic! But sadly, just this week the deal fell through after some issues with the inspection. We’re heartbroken! My imagination had already taken over, and I was planning all the decorating I wanted to do, the garden I wanted to plant, and how the house would look with horses, some chickens, and a dog. It was truly disappointing when we realized that this wasn’t our house. We will continue on, though, and keep searching. We know our house is out there somewhere!
What do you have planned for the weekend?
Sorry to hear about the house, but I’m sure you’ll find somewhere even better
Have a beautiful day

I’m sorry about the house
However, all of these pictures are absolutely lovely. With the exception of the “cat butt” of course
Love your blog.

You couldn’t have a more perfect time to be house shopping! Good luck on your search. My only advice–don’t fall in love with A house. Houses are like boyfriends–there’s always another fish in the sea. Of course, that analogy works best for single people! Love the trinket dish and the antique lamp.
Ah you’re so right. We’ll find another. Thank you for the encouragement!
nice!!

That house was not meant to be yours. The inspection result means it has problems beyond what your means probably are to deal with it. Time to move on! Find another you love just as much. I love your display of vintage jewelry, I have a large amount I just inherited from my Mom and I love to display it the same way. Its meaningful and special. I had a fabulous early long weekend in Carmel, Monterey and Big Sur California where I was able to wear shorts and tee all day ! Hello spring!
Yeah, you’re right … we’ll find another! We’re already back on the hunt
Costume jewelry is too pretty to hide in a box, isn’t it? Your weekend sounds amazing!!
Sorry about the house. We’ve looked for a house for so many years and at last we rented an appartment in an old mansion where we lived happily for many other years. Then it was sold, we had to leave and we were so sad and thought we would never ever find a house like that. But then my grandmother moved into a care home and wanted us to move into her house. And now I’m glad to live in a house that’s 99 years old and that my greatgrandfather built with his own hands and I never want to leave that house again.
BTW love the vintage brooches on the plate.
Ah, I love old houses, too. They have so much more charm than newer homes. But they do come with a lot more work and maintenance, which we are quickly learning. Thank you for sharing your story!!
