Day four of our vacation began with an early start. After a tasty breakfast of fresh Krispy Kreme donuts and mimosas (yum), we headed to Great Smoky Mountains National Park.
Our first adventure was a long uphill hike to see Laurel Falls. It was definitely a good workout making our way to the waterfall! The falls were gorgeous and definitely a sight to see.
After making our way back down the mountain, we found a picnic area next to the rushing creek and had the lunch that we packed.
Chris had been dying to go fishing, so after lunch we headed down to the water. After he caught a couple fish, I tried my hand at fly fishing (for the very first time), and I caught a rainbow trout! We toured around the park and stopped at several fishing locations. We even did a little “offroading” to find good fishing spots, but neither of us caught anything after our initial luck.
I was pretty worn out after a long day of hiking and fishing. On our way back to our cabin, though, we made one little detour to get some ice cream :).
We rounded out the evening by grilling burgers and onions and relaxing in the hot tub.
