If you saw my Santa wish list the other day, you know that I have my eyes on the Wildfox Couture heart jumper. After hours of ogling their website, I had an epiphany: I can make my own!
[SIDENOTE: Since making my wish list just last week, the heart jumper is no longer available on their website...I think this DIY project is FATE
]

What you need to make a DIY Wildfox Couture Inspired Heart Jumper:
- A white crew neck sweatshirt. I got mine at Target for around $8
- A heart stencil to trace. I just printed out Word’s heart shape as big as it would fit on a sheet of paper and cut this out
- Pencil
- Mod Podge
- Red Glitter
- A container for mixing glitter and glue
- A paint brush
- Newspaper
How to make a Wildfox Couture Inspired Heart Jumper:
- With a pencil, lightly trace around the heart stencil in the center of your sweatshirt.
- Mix the red glitter with Mod Podge in a container. There’s no science to this — just make sure the glitter is thick enough to cover the shirt well.
- Put the newspaper inside your sweatshirt. This will prevent the glue from soaking through to the other side.
- Paint the glitter/glue combo on the sweatshirt — stay in the lines! I painted about two coats on my sweatshirt.
- Let your shirt dry overnight or until dry. On thin spots, paint another coat of glitter/glue. Let dry.
- Wear your inexpensive, Wildfox Couture inspired sweatshirt for a sweet date-night look — OR a sassy daytime frock!

Update: I spilled coffee on my heart sweatshirt (clumsy!). I bleached the stained parts, and then I washed the sweatshirt in the gentle cycle by itself with detergent. The glitter and glue DID hold up in the wash! I line dried it, and it’s good as new!
I love it! Def trying that today, xo
Yay! It’s the easiest and cutest DIY ever!
Super cute! (: I’ll definitely have a go xx

That is so cute! Can you wash it on the machine without loosing all the glitter? how do you do it?
Hey! I haven’t tried washing it yet. I’m not sure how that’ll turn out, but I’ll report back. I may hand wash it just to be careful!
I love it!! So cute and so simple, i like the off the shoulder sweater that taylor is wearing so might have to find something like that one, but your sweater looks fantastic!!!
I like the style of hers too
It’d probably be easy to cut a wide neck on a crew neck sweatshirt (80s style! haha)
if you wanted it to be off the shoulder you could always just cut the neck a little bigger..it would look cute to leave the edges raw so you wouldn’t need to sew it after you cut!!
Omg I’m so glad I came across this! Thank you so much! I have a few questions. Where did you get mod podge and glitter and does the glitter stay on in the wash or should I not wash it in the washing machine?
Hey Sara! I got the ModPodge and glitter at JoAnn Fabric, but you can buy both anywhere they sell craft supplies (even WalMart).
As for washing. I haven’t washed the sweatshirt yet. I always wear an t-shirt under it to put off washing. When I do, I’ll handwash it and be veryyyy careful because I’m not sure what’s going to happen. Haha. But, my friend just told me about Fabric Mod Podge, which I recommend you use if you try this DIY. This is what it looks like: http://www.amazon.com/Podge-CS11218-8-Ounce-Glue-Fabric/dp/B001681Z8Q
Thanks for stopping by!
Cute! Definitely have to try this!
Oh, I love this! I think I’ll try it with blue glitter though.
One question; how much glitter and ModPodge did you use? I have some glitter, but not like a giant mountain of it and would like to know if I’ll need more. Oh, one more; have you tried mixing two different glitter colors? Thanks!
Hey Brittany! This would look FAB with blue glitter. I never really measure when I do this, but I think a 50:50 ratio is about what I do. It’s a lot of glitter. I always buy the biggest size they have at the store because glitter is pretty inexpensive. I’ve never mixed glitter, but I think it could look cute — like the Kate Spade glitter purse at the bottom of this post: http://tulleandtrinkets.com/2011/11/21/glitter-fashion/ Have fun!
omg this is a brilliant idea! love love love
I just found this and had to share on my blog. So cute and so much more affordable!
Hi there, I love your creation! Can I just ask what Mod Podge you used because I’m going to be doing a little DIY on some tees and jumpers and I wasn’t sure what Mod Podge to go with! There are so many different kinds.
Thank you! xo
Hi! I used the Classic Podge in the gloss formula. There’s also a fabric kind, though, that I would recommend trying.
SO CUTE!
Have you washed it yet? How did it go?:P
Yes! I washed it on cold in the gentle cycle and lined dried it. It held up!

I know you found the sweatshirt at Target, but what section or what brand is it? I can’t seem to find one!
Hi! It’s Hanes and from the women’s section! You could probably also find them at Walmart or any big-store.

This is SO gorgeous! I’m definatly going to try this! We don’t have Mod Podge in England (if we do, I’ve never seen it
) so I’m going to attempt it with fabric glue
It would also look amazing on a pair of Converse!
This is the cutest thing! I totally need to try this out when I get the supplies!
